Well, we're jumping into the political fray with both feet! Today, G., NG and I went to check out the Alaska Women Against Palin (AKWAP) rally at the Loussac Library in Anchorage, Alaska. (Addendum: Official name is Alaska Women Rejecting Palin - AKWRP)/ I took a lot of photographs, interviewed a few women, and felt very inspired to meet other people who shared my political views. It is easy to feel very isolated in Alaska - a typically Red state - but a relief to find that there are many, many people who feel the same as I do about important issues - nationally, internationally and societally.
Here are some snapshots and video from the event. I was using my new Flip Mino for the first time so it is a little wobbly. Photos taken with my new Nikon CoolPix L18.

I hope you'll take a look at The Point's crowd-funded pledge campaign that aims to bring an anti-Palin advertisement to swing-state-based papers:

Or at least bring it to the attention of other folks who might be interested.

Thankyou!
This is democracy in action. Empowerment pure. I can view these articulate citizens and show my students here in good old Germany where to find them. Who needs TV?
You are speaking to the world!
There are lots of troubling issues out there but with the networks created by competent savvy women like you Alisha, we have the means to oppose. We need vision, we need a more gentle and inclusive enviropolitics. Death and destruction is what I hear from Palin. Celebrating death by hunting, raping the wilderness for short term gain, exploiting resources is the way this woman creates a tough political identity. How can we reconcile that with the values of family and nurturing life? She advocates the processes which threatening the survival of our only planet.
How can a mother be oblivious to the future of her children?
