Do yourself a MASSIVE favor and don't continue to beat yourself up for taking meds. You are doing what you have to do to be the best mother you can be. Who cares if you take Effexor for longer than expected? Seriously, give yourself a pat on the back and move on. Keep up the good work.

I think I'm just having a debate between my brain and my gut. My "rational brain" says "you don't like meds - how can you stay on meds?" but my gut says "It is working - keep it up. Don't rock the boat." Nobody said the rational brain was actually smart!

I agree that especially with winter coming not to rock the boat. Drugs suck. I made a big point for years of not taking anything. Now I've been taking Metformin for my PCOS for years and wouldn't ever want to go off because my life and health are much improved. Glad you got the hair thing looked into--you have been having that problem for a while. I still lose more hair than I used to since having a baby.

If you haven't already - get them to test your thyroid. This causes hairloss, headaches/migraines amoung a multitude of other things. When being pregnant this can get grossly out of wack. If your doctor refuses, seek out another that will - or a natrapath.

For what it's worth, I also lost hair for quite a while after my son was born.. I was nursing him, and when I went back to work after 5 months (and greatly decreased the nursing to just early AM and bedtime sessions), it started to grow back to it's usual half-assed mousey self..

I don't know enough about your situation, but thought I'd share...

I like your writing....

The Muser

I can so relate to all the stuff about getting off meds. I've been on zoloft for a little over a year now and want to start trying to wean myself off in the next couple of months, but, oh, the fear of losing the wonderful peace...PPD was such a nightmare and I NEVER want to feel all that again! Good luck to you.
