I've been looking for fun, easy ways to document what NG is saying at the wise old age of 4. I tend to do a combination of updates on my personal Facebook page and tweeting on the Twitter account I set up for her.

I also found a handy site - Bnter - where I can put short conversations with images.

This is the Age of Amusement. I wonder what 5 years old will bring. Right now, we're all getting a kick out of her clever conversation. Even she is telling me "Mommy, put that on Facebook!" as she is already savvy to the ways of social media.

What next? Her own video blog. Yes, folks, she is asking to make videos and have me put them online. More on this soon.

Girls Can Be Anything Paperdolls App: A Mother/Daughter Project

What started as a conversation with my 4-year-old took me down a delightful rabbit hole to the release of my company Mediaegg's first app: Girls Can Be Anything Paperdolls (for iPhone & iPad).

"Mommy, I can't be a doctor. Only boys can be doctors. Girls have to be nurses," she said.

So, after asking "Who told you that?" and not getting a clear answer, I told her "Honey, girls can be anything." (I blogged about this here.)

I kept hearing that phrase over and over in my head as I watched my daughter play on my iPhone, iPod, and iPad. When I was dismayed to find that the paper doll apps I downloaded for her consisted of mature female characters that were totally inappropriate for a 4-year-old, I thought "maybe we can create something better!"

Girls Can Be Anything Paperdolls is our first effort to do just that. Now, in partnership with the dev team at Agile Monks, Girls Can Be Anything Paperdolls is a reality. We set out to produce a family-friendly, kid-inspired, mom-approved dress up app. This is the first of a series of apps and products that we'll produce emphasizing positive, age-appropriate images and messages for the younger set.

Every app we produce also provides free space and awareness to a small nonprofit partner that will truly feel the impact of your support. Global Girl Media puts girls at the center of the story, training a future generation of female citizen journalists.
