I am beginning to think I'm completely vapid,
without any substantive thoughts on the world.
This blog makes me feel inadequate, but I'm
determined to make it work for no other reason
than I am stubborn.
I live in a tiny cocoon. Here is my little world in
a nutshell...
1. Loving husband who calls me constantly and emails me all the time. We're over 3000 miles apart at the moment, but I still struggle with keeping up my end of the communication bargain. Note to self: Try to be more communcative.
2. A few great girlfriends who put up with my moods and snarkiness and make me laugh. We corrupt each other with Reality TV nights, and they remind me to be kind.
3. A few great women in my life who inspire me to be a better person and better woman by embracing the goddess, embracing myself.
4. Three Chihuahuas - all rescues, all unique personalities. They are my surrogate children, and I spoil them more than people spoil human babies.
5. My family - a Dad who is my best friend, a Mom who has become my friend and a sister who can be a freaky moody bitch but is the most talented and intriguing person I've ever met.
6. My computer - a G4 PowerBook Titanium with a 17" screen that is my lifeline to the world, to family and friends, to myself.
7. My RV - my greatest possession. I cried when it kept breaking down on a road trip, and I thought I'd have to leave it behind. This is my house on wheels, my home, my mobile cocoon.
8. My TV - I have a love/hate relationship with television. Part of me is morbidly fascinated, another part is sick of the brain suck. I have a harder time resisting TV than sugar and caffeine.
9. Lattes and Shiraz are my elixirs but right now, it is decaf lattes and no wine, and I'm trying not to whine about it.
10. Pregnancy - This is a tough one because it is currently dominating my little world but it might be another false alarm. Miscarriage would normally be the main topic here, but here's hoping to a serious and lasting topic change.
11. Magazines and Books - I am totally obsessed with magazines and books and love to buy more and more of them. Unfortunately, I rarely read the ones I have before buying more. I'm afraid to throw any of them away. I will die an eccentric ancient woman with 100 Chihuahuas and 1,000,000 books and magazines.
12. The Open Road - I have a new-ish car (1997 Toyota 4Runner) and love driving all around the state or anywhere else. I love being on the road even if not in my RV. I love motels and diners and having my dogs with me all the time, stopping at rest stops so they can take a pee, Wyoming wind whipping through my hair.
