Jan King

As one of the authors of the survey, I'd like to explain how we hope this will help women get published successfully. First, the recognition that women aren't hitting the best seller list as often as men may be a wake up call to publishers and the media as an opportunity to look for and promote women authors. Secondly, women are a powerful buying force and women can support other women as authors buy reading what they write. Finally, we know that aspiring women authors' attitudes about the publishing world and how they interact in it may be holding them back. Getting some information on how women buy and recommend books as well as how they view themselves as aspiring authors will help those of us in the publishing world help women to write better, negotiate contracts better, and promote themselves and their books more assertively. Thanks for listening!
