Fiat Lux

There was a recent article in the WSJ about a guy in the southwest who's a SL devotee as well. Housebound due to recent illness, he spends his days in SL riding a motorcycle, and socializing with far-flung friends, including his SL "wife" (his real wife does not use the game). I get the sense that people with limited horizons (for whatever reason) are looking to SL for the things their current life cannot give them.

I can see where that's a viable business model for Linden Labs and some number of SoHo businesses catering to the SL community, but I agree that it's not necessarily a place where real-life brands are going to make much cash.
