Aliza - Thanks for this strong reminder.

One mindset I'm more and more passionate about is realizing the stage is a space we as speakers may lead but it is not something we fully possess.

As in - no matter the length of time we've been allotted to speak, especially if it's a one hour keynote, allocate time slots for audience engagement. So for a 60 minute address, ideally for every 20 minutes of stage time, I suggest dedicating at least a few minutes of reaching out to the audience with questions. As you mentioned, if a speaker can reach out to an audience beforehand, that's ideal too for overall recon.

Stimulating multiple points of query is another way to demonstrate respect for our audience.
